@SamLuvsJamesDean I don’t think its anything to do with not being smart. Her mothers control must have been so strong, it’s hard to undertand when we have never been in the same situation. Her mother must have controlled her most of her life from being very young so thats a hard thing to go against even for an adult. It seems like her mother used emotional blackmail and made her feel guilty and all the rest of it. Poor Pier was just being loyal to her mother who had raised them on her own.

i think pier angeli was very pretty but wasn’t very smart. if james dean was my boyfriend i would never left him for someone else. and forget about what my mom thought or felt about him. james dean deserved someone who isnt controlled by their parents. especially when pier was a adult and could make her own choices.

i feel bad for jimmy..pier broke his heart by marrying another man. he definitely loved her though. a lot of press people who came to the wedding said that saw james on his motorcycle across the street watching. pier ended up killing herself at age 39..shortly before she died it was recalled by a close friend that james was the man she ever dies. james dies in a car crash.

He was gay and the Pier Angeli thing was just a publicity stunt. Dean, unlike his Giant co-star Rock Hudson, was open about his sexuality. However, that behavior was frowned upon back then and the studios would try to cover it up. Rock Hudson, was married for three year to Phyllis Gates…in an effort to hide his homosexuality and protect his sex symbol status. James Dean homosexuality is evident in his movies and his behavior.
