The Steinbeck Centennial Collection: The Grapes of Wrath, Of Mice and Men, East of Eden, The Pearl, Cannery Row, Travels With Charley In Search of America (Boxed Set) Description: No writer is more quintessentially American than John Steinbeck. Born in 1902 in Salinas, California, Steinbeck attended Stanford University before working at a series of mostly blue-collar jobs and embarking on his literary career. Profoundly committed to social progress, he used his writing to raise issues of labor exploitation and the plight of the common man, penning some of the greatest American novels of the twentieth century and winning such prestigious awards as the Pulitzer Prize and the National Book Award. I’m writing an essay and I need to know why John Steinbeck was labeled “the most dangerous man in America”, by growers and politicians. This was soon after The Grapes of Wrath was released.
I am doing an essay on two of Steinbeck’s works, and I would like to know which book(s) contain the best literary criticism (in terms of analysis, themes, whatever) on:
1. Of Mice and Men
2. Cannery Row
3. John Steinbeck (overall)
As a writer, how would you depict John Steinbeck?

This is a project my sister was supposed to do for school, and naturally they gave her one weekend to finish it. And of course we were going to spend the entire weekend in Lake Tahoe for a church retreat, where we would have no time whatsoever to spend on this project. Nevertheless, I agreed to help my sister out by acting and helping edit the project. I personally think it’s pretty cool, especially considering the circumstances under which we filmed it (You have no idea how awkward it is to pretend to slit someone’s throat and slap someone while standing half-naked in the rain while the pastor’s watching your every move). By the way, I DO NOT OWN ANY OF THE MUSIC in this and I AM NOT MAKING ANY MONEY FROM IT. I actually originally made my own music for this, but it ended up being too dark and weird so Hans Zimmer and Philip Glass came to the rescue again.
“No one wants advice – only corroboration.”
In this case an honest answer is okay even if you don’t corroborate with me or John Steinbeck.
